Expressions of Learning

The child

is made of one hundred.

The child has

a hundred languages

a hundred hands

a hundred thoughts

a hundred ways of thinking

of playing, of speaking …”

About Us

Expressions of Learning provides the kind of a childcare service that every parent (and child) dreams of! We offer responsible and experienced supervision, while providing constructive educational activities that strengthen sensory and language development, encourage creative expression, and let the child explore their abilities in a positive, nurturing, and supportive environment.

We understand that every child and family is unique. There are as many ways to teach a child as there are ways for a child to learn. Our childcare program is designed to meet the individual needs of each child, considering the stage of their development, family history, experience, and any disabilities they may have. We are experienced to care for children with Developmental Delays, Autism, Down Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder, Language Processing Disorders, and ADHD or ADD.

As we work towards accomplishing goals and reaching milestones, we will guide your child through challenges and help them to adapt and understand new situations as they arise. Expressions of Learning was founded on the belief that young children are capable, resourceful and creative problem solvers. Children have the right to expression and to feel like a part of the world around them. We strive to provide opportunities that reinforce those skills and experiences.

Expressions of Learning collaborates with a diversity of professionals such as doctors, therapists, teachers and parents to create a strong network of experience and knowledge.

At Expressions of Learning, children are encouraged to express their feelings and emotions creatively. Imagination plays a key role in their quest for knowledge and understanding.

My name is Miss Jamie, Founder of Expressions of Learning. For more than twelve years, Early Childhood Education has been the focus of my studies, my career, my life! Most know me for my out of the box, creative and respectful approach to Early Childhood Education. In addition to my approach with children, I am also recognized as being an excellent resource to parents of children with special needs as well typically developing children. My passion and eagerness to serve ALL children is visible in all that I do. For example, in 2012 an article was written about me in the Manassas Patch. It illustrates my acute eye for designing outdoor play spaces for young children. The playground was deemed unsafe for children prior to the implementation of my design but is now safe and open for play today. With a degree in Early Childhood Development and an everlasting goal to grow as a professional, I stay up-to-date and informed with what’s new in my profession. I continue to find productive ways to grow as a small business owner and fulfill my dream of helping each child reach their full creative potential. When I am not guiding children through the learning and creative process, or researching the best up-to-date approach to child development I spend my time hiking nature trails, visiting with family and creating art of my own.

Miss Jamie is A WONDERFUL resource for our family. We trust her with our child, but even more importantly we feel like he is learning when he is with her, which we love. She is patient and caring, very important since we have a toddler. Can't say enough about Miss Jamie--our little one adores her.
